Hold The FInish[/caption]
Why golfers like Luke Donald and Ernie Els hold their finish for so long? Do they do it just to look pretty? What do pro's do that?
Holding the finish can be a beneficial drill, with tell tale clues to problems with your game.
Balance
Holding the finish can tell you a lot about your balance. Can you stay in the finish position for more than a second or two?
If you try to hold your finish but fall toward the target, your weight has shifted too much in that direction.
Conversely, if you try to hold your finish and fall away from the target, you are falling back or possibly even reverse-pivoting.
Concentration
Holding the finish and watching the shot until its completion is also very beneficial. If you hit a good shot, watch it and concentrate on the flight and feel of the shot. Try to let it soak in. Take a picture of it in your mind, and use that image to help you produce more good shots.
Hold your finish! Try it!
