Golf Games: Four Clubs

How many clubs do you need?  Ever wish you could carry 15, 16 or more instead of 14?  How about less? Four Club Format A fun and educational tournament or playing format is the "Four Club" format.  It couldn't be simpler.  Take out all but four of your clubs from your golf bag and go play golf.  Having run several four club tournaments some interesting things happen. Think First, you have to actually think before you play.  You analyze the course, yardages and must pick the right clubs for tees, approach, short game etc.  You're doing the course management before you even start. Second, you likely play the holes differently than if you had more clubs.  For instance you may play three 7-irons on a par-5 instead of driver, fairway wood, wedge.  You might actually keep the ball in play more this way. Scoring Surprisingly in the rounds I've participated in many players' scores either stay the same or actually IMPROVE when they play with only four clubs.  Try playing with four clubs some day, and you may find out some interesting things about your game.  You might just figure out ways of improving your score via course management and playing different clubs.
