Golf Games: Nine Point Game
Here's a good game for three players called the Nine Point Game.
In the Nine Point Game (NPG) there are a total of nine points available on every hole. All points must be allocated on every hole, none left over. Points are divided between the players based on their score relative to each other as follows:
All three tie
If all three players in the group tie, the nine points is split into thirds. Thus, each player would be awarded three points. 3-3-3.
One low score, two higher scores tie
If two players tie and the 3rd beats those two here's how the points would split: The lowest score would receive five points while the other two would receive two each. 5-2-2.
Two low scores tie, one higher score
If two players tie while both beating the 3rd player, the two low scores would be worth four points. The lone 3rd player would receive one point. 4-4-1.
1, 2, 3 = 5-3-1
If there are no ties, the player with the lowest score would receive five points, next lowest score three points, worst score one point. 5-3-1.
Winner
See how the total is always nine? The winner is the player with the highest point total at the end of the round.
Try this game the next time you have three players. NPG is fun!
