PGA Results: 2015 John Deere Classic

by Jeremiah Bohannon on Jul 12, 2015
Jordan SpiethPGA Tour John Deere Classic TPC Deere Run, Silvis, IL July 9-12, 2015 Folks, we are in the midst of an historic run in golf.  I strongly recommend enjoying and watching the journey of young Jordan Spieth.  Spieth, with two major championships already this season, is on his way to PGA Tour player of the year. Normally before the Open Championship players sit out on the John Deere Classic.   They use the previous week to prepare and take the long journey across the pond.  Spieth was committed to playing the Deere and he's glad he did. Spieth carded his lowest round as a professional with a 61 enroute to finishing tied at the end of regulation with Tom Gillis.  Spieth dispatched Gillis on the second playoff hole and became only the second player this century to win four times before the Open Championship.  The other player who accomplished that feat was Tiger Woods, who managed to do it several times. All eyes will be on Spieth this week as he tries to complete the major championship trifecta at the Old Course in St. Andrews. European Tour Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open Gullane GC, Gullane East Lothian, Scotland A few weeks back a PGA Tour poll which was widely publicized awarded Rickie Fowler as one of the most overrated players on Tour.  That apparently didn't sit well with Fowler, who shortly after won The Players Championship in a playoff. Fowler showed the critics once again this week with a links style win at the Scottish Open at Gullane Golf Course.  Fowler overtook Matt Kuchar, who looked like he might have had the event won.  Fowler's three birdies in the last four holes leapfrogged (ahem) Kuchar and gave him his first win on the European Tour. LPGA Tour U.S. Women's Open Conducted by the USGA Lancaster Country Club Lancaster, PA July 9-12, 2015 20-year-old In Gee Chun looked to be too far off the lead in the final round of the U.S. Women's Open. That's nothing a birdieing four of the last seven holes can't help. Chun's birdie run and final round 66 was good enough for a one-shot victory at Lancaster Country Club. Even more amazing about the victory for the youngster is that this was her first U.S. Open. Well played.
