Solheim Cup
Colorado Golf Club, Parker, Colorado
First, a short description of the Solheim Cup is in order. The Solheim Cup is a biennial golf tournament for professional women golfers from Europe and the USA. In other words, this is the women’s version of the Ryder Cup.
This year the Solheim Cup was held on US soil, at Colorado Golf Club in Parker, Colorado. The home turf for the USA team has been historically favorable. In fact, until this past week the USA team had never lost at home.
That record has now changed as the Europe team dominated with an 18-10 victory broken down by days:
Day 1 - Europe 5.0 / USA 3.0
Day 2 - Europe 5.5 / USA 2.5
Day 3 - Europe 7.5 / USA 4.5
Total: Europe 18 / USA 10

Wyndham Championship
Sedgefield CC, Greensboro, NC
The Wyndam Championship marked the final regular season FedEx Cup qualifying tournament. The top 125 following this week are “in” the playoffs, and the season is over for those 126 and above.
Patrick Reed had never won on the PGA Tour until this week. The win came in a playoff versus young Jordan Spieth. Reed’s playoff hole birdie came from an unlikely position, near out of bounds. From pine straw near the OB line, Reed hit a 7-iron through trees which ended up at seven feet from the pin for what he call the, “shot of my life.” The birdie sealed his first victory on Tour and bumped him up to #22 in the FedEx Cup standings.
Let the playoffs begin.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Open
En-Joie GC, Endicott, NY
The seniors were in New York this week for the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open. This was a special week, the 1000th tournament on the Champions Tour.
Bart Bryant became winner #1000 by edging Corey Pavin and Russ Cochran by one shot. The key round for Bryant was his astonishing 2nd round 62 which built him a four shot lead heading into the final round.
