There are many interesting storylines in pro golf this week at Doral. This may be one time when the golf course is bigger news than the players playing, and all of the world’s top 50 are playing it. All of them.
Doral has undergone reconstruction thanks to new owner Donald Trump. The architect in charge of the redesign is the well respected Gil Hanse, who is also the architect for the Olympic golf course in the 2016 Rio games. Trump says the players who have been used to playing this course over the years will be puzzled by the greens.
Tiger Woods is slated to play, but there is question about that. He withdrew last week in the final round of the Honda due to back spasms. Woods remains #1 in the world, but should world #2 Adam Scott win and Woods finishes at 6th or higher, Scott will take over the #1 ranking for the first time in his career.
With all of the top 50 in the world competing, this week’s action at Doral should be quite interesting and entertaining for golf fans.

Rio Grande, Puerto Rico
With a WGC (World Golf Championship) event going on in Florida, the rest of the PGA Tour is in Puerto Rico for the Puerto Rico Open. Ironically, this golf course is also a Trump property.
There are some popular players who are in the field this week in Puerto Rico. John Daly has been playing the tournament for many years. Other notables include David Duval, Tervor Immelman, Lee Janzen, David Toms and Y.E. Yang.
