We're down to very little goings-on in the world of professional golf. On the slate this week is perhaps the last chance of the year to see any of the big name players in action.
PGA Tour
This week in Thousand Oaks, California is the Tiger Woods World Challenge presented by Northwestern Mutual. This is an invitation only event with no cut. A stellar field of 18 players is selected by Tiger to compete in this event.
The purse for this week is $4 million with the winner taking home $1.2 million.
The host course for this week is Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. This course is a Jack Nicklaus design which measures at 7,027 yards and a par value of 72, a short course by tour standards. Accuracy however is more important than distance as the course is lined by some 1,800 mature oak trees.
