PGA Preview: 2012 John Deere Classic

PGA Tour The PGA Tour is in Silvis, Illinois to contest the John Deere Classic.  This tournament is held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis.   The winner of this week's tournament will take home $828K out of the total purse of $4.6 million and 500 FedEx Cup points. Steve Stricker headlines the field this week.  Stricker will be attempting to win is fourth consecutive John Deere Classic in a row.  Other notables in the field include Zach Johnson, Ricky Barnes, K.J. Choi, Camillo Villegas and Rory Sabbatini. TPC Deere Run is a tree lined par-71 which measures at 7,257 yards.  This D.A. Weibring design favors ball strikers and great iron play.  That's why someone like Stricker can win it three consecutive times.  Given those thoughts, look for Zach Johnson and K.J. Choi to contend. Champions Tour The seniors are contesting the U.S. Senior Open this week at Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion, Michigan. Purse is $2.6 million with the winner taking home $500K. Obviously in a major championship the field will be maxed out with the best in the business. Tom Watson has three runner up finishes in the U.S. Senior Open and is looking to finally win one. Others in the field include Tom Kite, Fred Funk, Gil Morgan, Craig Stadler and Hale Irwin. TV Schedule

Web.com Tour The Web.com Tour is in Utah for the Utah Championship. This contest is held at Willowcreek Country Club. This tournament has been a great proving ground for future PGA Tour players like last year's winner J.J. Killeen, Zach Johnson and Bubba Watson.
