PGA Preview: 2012 FedEx Cup Playoff Finale

Welcome to a small Frogger Blogger milestone, post #500.  And now on to our regularly scheduled frogram. PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoff Finale The PGA Tour has a bye this week, a break before the big finale in the FedEx Cup.  The top 30 in points will be teeing it up next Thursday, September 20th in the TOUR Championship.  We will do a preview next week. Champions Tour After a short break the seniors are back in action this week in Hawaii.  This week's tournament is the Pacific Links Hawaii Championship, contested at Kapolei Golf Course in Kapolei, Hawaii.  Purse for this tournament is $1.8 million with the winner's share coming in at $270,000. The host venue this week, Kapolei Golf Course, is a par-72 track which measures at one yard longer than 7,000.  The course was built on the grounds of a former sugar cane plantation, designed by Ted Robinson.  The track wanders over 190 acres with elevated greens, 80 traps and five water features.  Tactical golf is the play this week. Greg Norman is on the grounds, but is an ambassador and not a player this week.  Players to watch this week in the field include the hot Jay Don Blake, Tom Lehman, Tom Kite, Corey Pavin and Craig Stadler.  Announcer Gary McCord is playing this week.  We will find out if his golf game is as entertaining as his golf commentary! The Women's British Open is this week.  Get ready for some links golf.  The LPGA is in Wirral, United Kingdom this week at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.  This is a 72 hole tournament with a total purse of $2.75 million. Royal Liverpool Golf Club is a par-72 track which will be playing at 6660 yards for the women.  The course is a true links style seaside track with rolling hills, riveted bunkers and native grasses outside the fairways.  Riveted bunkers are the style with the "stepped" steep walls. Yani Tseng heads up the field.  She has won the event the last two years.  Can she find her game and record an amazing 3rd consecutive Women's British Open title?  Or can Paula Creamer continue her great play this week and record another major?  Others to watch include Stacy Lewis, Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie and Suzann Pettersen.
