2013 US Amateur Championship
One of the best golf tournaments in the world is on TV this week. But Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlory are not in action.
This is the week of the U.S. Amateur Championship, one of the tournaments put on by the United States Golf Association.
The tournament this year is held at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass. Brookline was where Francis Ouimet upset Harry Vardon and Ted Ray in an 18-hole playoff in 1913. Brookline has hosted 11 previous major championships, including several U.S. Opens.
A few notable past champions of the U.S. Amateur include Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
