2019 Masters Fantasy Golf Preview, Picks, Sleepers, Draftkings Strategy
If you’re a fan of the PGA Tour, early April is just about as good as the lead up to Christmas. You can feel the excitement in the air and hear the famous piano music in your head. Nantz utters a “welcome friends” and the shivers go down your spine. The Masters is here. For four beautiful days, all is right with the world. 2019 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years of this incredible event, so we wanted to weigh in on a few of our favorites for this year’s Masters. Also, we threw in a few takes on a couple guys who are lurking in the higher odd range but could very well lift the trophy on Sunday. Let’s get down to the nitty gritty!

Rory McIlroy: 7.5 – 1, $11,600 Draftkings

What can you even say about this guy right now? He’s number three in the world rankings and an overwhelming favorite at 7.5 – 1. He leads the tour in strokes gained and the current Players champion. He’s absolutely smacking the ball around, and when he gets hot with the putter he’s undoubtedly the best player in the world. Rory tied for 5th last year at Augusta and certainly a tough number to bet at 7.5 – 1.  If you still have Rory available for a one-and-done pick we think this is the week to use him.

Tiger Woods: 14 – 1, $10,500 Draftkings

The anticipation leading up to Tiger teeing off on Thursday at The Masters is extreme to say the least. In foursomes, clubhouses, and living rooms around the country people are wondering how he’s going to fare. The guy hasn’t missed a cut all year, and if you’ve been watching, it seems like Tiger is swinging easier and freer than ever. The question remains as it does for many golfers: Can he get the putter hot at Augusta? We’re optimistic, to say the least that he can.

Jordan Spieth: 22 – 1, $8,900 Draftkings

We think this might be the sleeper pick of all the favorites. Everyone knows Jordan doesn’t have his form right now with the putter, but if he finds it at Augusta, everyone else there better watch out. We seem to forget what it’s like when this guy is making everything he looks at, so just to remind you, it’s terrifying for the rest of the field. Just remember what happened last year when he shot a pretty casual 8-under 64 on Sunday to almost win the thing. At 22 – 1 and especially for less than $9,000 on Draftkings, this gets our attention.

Webb Simpson: 100 – 1, $7,400 Draftkings

Talk about injustice, Webb Simpson at 100 – 1 is a crime. Give this guy some credit. We know his form isn’t great right now but he’s still the 24th ranked player in the world. He’s top 30 in strokes gained tee to green, approach to the green, and around the green. Those are all solid stats going into Augusta, so although it might be a bit of a long shot, we love Webb Simpson. Don’t forget what happened last year at The Players when he lapped the strongest field in golf.

Ian Poulter: 125 – 1, $7,600 Draftkings

The 33rd ranked player in the world is 38th in total strokes gained for 2019. He’s in decent form,  fantastic around the greens, but currently ice cold with the putter. If his putting turns around anything could happen given his experience. He’s an Augusta veteran who knows his way around this course. We don’t usually see people win The Masters who haven’t at least played it a few times and Poulter has had some decent finishes over the years. At 125 – 1, he’s an interesting play and for only $7,600 on Draftkings, he’s a steal.
