  • Spotted - Dan's Frogger Ball Towel

How cool is this?  The Frogger Blogger was playing a round of golf this past weekend.  Big surprise eh?   I was paired up with a nice gentleman named Dan, about a 12 handicapper.  We had a fine time chasing the white ball around the course.

    Dan's Ball Towel

Dan had a Frogger BrushPro on the bag (nice play) which he swore by.  He touted the advantages of having clean grooves and how they helped his short game.

Dan also had a Frogger Ball Towel.  Rather than hanging the ball towel on his golf bag or putting it in his pocket, he used the included caribeaner to hang it on a belt loop (picture above).  Very nicely played Dan!

  • Good For Golf: Tianlang Guan to play PGA Tour Event

GuanTianlangOne of the best (and worst) stories of the 2013 Masters was that of 14 year old Chinese golf amateur Tianlang Guan.  Guan became the youngest amateur to not only play in the Masters, but to make the CUT!   Think of all the big names who did not make the cut that this 8th grader beat like Graeme McDowell, Webb Simposn, Y.E. Yang, Ian Poulter, Padraig Harrington...  I could go on.  Guan finished the Masters in 58th place, but had a very respectable 73 on the first round.

    Best

Due to his sudden popularity the Zurich Classic of New Orleans has extended a sponsor's exemption to Tianlang Guan to play in their event.  This is definitely good for golf, especially with the word-wide appeal that this young player has and is gaining.  Watch for Guan to play in the Zurich Classic beginning April 25th at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, just outside of New Orleans.

    Worst

What's the worst story involving Tianlang Guan?  He was penalized in the Masters for slow play.  Many have been critical of the Masters rules committee for penalizing the 14 year old amateur for slow play when nearly all the pros play slow.

  • Helicopter drops 2305 golf balls onto school field for charity

    (LA Times)

    (LA Times)

Play it as it lies, or as it "flies" in this case?  Not sure how the United States Golf Association or the Royal and Ancient Golf Society of St. Andrews would handle the ruling on this ball drop...

In Costa Mesa (one of my favorite places) California yesterday the 3rd annual "helicopter golf ball drop" took place at St. Joachim Catholic School.  A helicopter, piloted by one of the school's student's fathers, duped 2305 golf balls onto a field.

Why 2305 balls?  Why a helicopter?

A creative way to do a fundraiser, school officials devised the copter-drop.  Students sell each golf ball for $10.  Entrants who donate the $10 per ball then hope that their ball finishes closest to the target on the ground after being dropped from the helicopter.  Prizes vary from $125 cash to a Kindle Fire or iPad.

Last year the event raised roughly $21,000 for the school and this year looks to top that number slightly.

  • What golf buddies do...

golf sinkholeWow this is scary stuff.  Remember the poor guy perished when his house fell into a giant sinkhole?  The latest sinkhole story is that of a golfer in Illinois who was playing with his friends when he fell 18 feet into a sinkhole.  The sinkhole was on the 14th hole at Annbriar Golf Club. Golfer Mark Mihal saw an indentation in the ground and joked with his friends that hitting a golf ball from it would be interesting

"It didn't look unstable.  And then I was gone. I was just free-falling. It felt like forever, but it was just a second or two, and I didn't know what I was going to hit. And all I saw was darkness.  At some point, I said, 'I need to get out of here. Now,'"  ~Mark Mihal

The fall dislocated one of his shoulders which made getting him out of the hole difficult, but his great friends went in after him.  One friend formed a splint for his injury and then tied a rope around him to get him out.

Now THAT is what golf buddies do.

  • New PGA Show Video Interview

Just when I was wondering what to post today for the midweek blog, our friends at Hooked On Golf Blog posted their PGA Show interview of Frogger's own Jeremiah Bohannon.  The audio isn't the best because of the noise level at the show, but in this vid the three new products (Cart Poncho, Arc Angel, Swing Hero) are covered.

  • Frogger's Golf Cart Poncho Unveiled At PGA Merchandise Show

Frogger fans know we have two new products in the swing aid category, the Arc Angel and Swing Hero.   Both are new as of late 2012.

    Golf Cart Poncho

Newly introduced at the PGA Merchandise Show, hot off the prototype presses, the new "Golf Cart Poncho."  The product is not available quite yet as we are ramping up production now.

    Golf_Cart_Poncho_On_Cart_On_White

The Golf Cart Poncho is a lightweight, portable cart cover unlike any you've probably seen.  This is not a heavy, bulky and difficult to handle canvas cover which takes two people to install.  The Poncho is meant to be stored in the golf bag, ready for use at any time and easy to carry.

    The Kicker

The kicker on the Golf Cart Poncho is the extremely reasonable price.  Other cart covers are $150-$300+.  Retail pricing on the Frogger Golf Cart Poncho is under 50 bucks!  $49.95!

    Do we rule or what?
