Today marks a fun tournament during the season, the WGC (World Golf Championships) Accenture Match Play Championships. This is a great tournament which boasts the strongest field of the year so far with about 99% of the world's top 64 players. Missing in action: Phil Mickelson.
What makes this tournament so fun is that it is in match play format. As we have seen many times, just about anything can happen. Tiger Woods could win the whole thing or lose in the first round. It has happened before.
The match play is broken into four brackets: Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Sam Snead. The winners of each bracket face in the 5th matches and it is paired down to Sunday's championship match from there. There is also a consolation match on Sunday.
