  • Friday Fun - Ghost

We've talked about many fun golf games.  Some games like 6-holers and four-ball games require partners.  But what if there is one player missing from the group or there's an odd number of players and you want to play a two-four player team game?  The simple solution is to add a ghost player or "pro" as we call him.  We will even give the player a name, like "Arnie."  Lets look at the six hole partner game as an example.

In a regular game if six hole partners, each of the four players in a group is a partner with each other member of the group for six holes.  But if there are only three players we can implement a ghost as the 4th.  Depending on the handicap level of the players, the ghost will be counted as making a certain score.  If the players are single digit handicappers, then perhaps the ghost or "Arnie" will make a par on every hole.  If the players in the group are double digit, then perhaps the ghost scores a bogey on every hole.  Each player will have the ghost as a partner for six of the holes.  At the end of the round, the players who have the ghost as a partner will either collect winnings for himself and the ghost, or pay the losses for himself and the ghost.

Many team games in golf can use a ghost player if there's an open spot.  Use your imagination to determine where you and your playing partners can use a ghost player!
