Transitioning
The WGC at Doral finished up last week with a very strong field of top PGA Tour and world players. The next big stop on tour is Arnold Palmer's tournament at Bay Hill next week, where all the big guns including Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will be in action. Two weeks later will be The Masters.
Tavistock Cup
This week we had several of the top 10 players in the world competing on TV on Monday and Tuesday in the ever growing Tavistock Cup. The Tavistock Cup is where several of the most exclusive country clubs, whose members include PGA Tour pros, compete. Charity is the primary beneficiary.
Four clubs competed for the cup this year. Players from the various clubs included Tiger Woods, Graeme McDowell, Retief Goosen, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, Adam Scott and more.
Lake Nona won the competition in convincing fashion by 16 strokes.
Almost more exciting than the tournament itself, is the extravagance of this private event in which tickets aren't sold. The players fly in via helicopter, landing right on the fairway for a grand entrance.
Transitions Championship
Speaking of transitioning, the Transitions Championship is this week. It is a bit of a buffer tournament between Doral and Bay Hill, and many big names choose not to play it.
Sergio Garcia is returning from his PGA Tour break, reportedly hoping to find more joy in the game. He certainly wasn't finding that when he left last year.
Other notables who will be competing in the Transitions this week include Rory Sabbatini, Padraig Harrington, Bubba Watson, Retief Goosen, Zach Johnson and Jim Furyk.
